Well, the election is over and I send President-elect Obama congratulations on his victory. I did not support him, and we agree on very few issues. Sen. John McCain waged a brave battle against considerable odds, and in the end came up short 52%-47%. He was facing a strong political headwinds all year, with our country fighting two wars, in the middle of a recession and a real-estate collapse. Despite all this, he was actually leading in mid-September when the bottom fell out of the stock and financial markets. Then everyone starting panicking and reacting reflexively against the party in power. To the extent Pres. Obama governs from the center, he will have my party's cooperation. If he goes hard-left, GOP senators will block his every move. I would like to congratulate African-American voters in California for their decisive role in voting in favor of the gay marriage ban in that state. They voted 70%-30% in support of the proposition, wjhile Hispanics voted for it by a smaller margin. Anyone who thinks a liberal wave swept over America should look at this vote, as well as successful efforts in Florida and Arizona. This is just a temporary setback, and conservatives will be back to their winning ways soon...

Boone Pickens commercials, and went to his website, I thought I was looking at a guy who had maybe been around too long. He seemed be leaning too much to wind and solar. But in a recent Senate hearing before the Homeland Security Committee, chaired by Joe Lieberman, |-Conn, he made it clear that he's for everything that isn't foreign oil. That means drilling offshore, in ANWR, using oil shale, windfarms, solar plant, and nuclear. Sen. John McCain is in agreement with all of it except for ANWR, and I think he'll eventually come around on that. He's begun running ads blaming Obama for the big recent oil increases. He is to blame, but he has company. The whole eviro-whacko wing of the Democratic party, that has consistently blocked drilling offshore, building nuclear plants, even building oil refineries. Not just Obama, but all of them must be stopped-- the whole scurvy crew.

Barack Obama sure does show a alot of weaknesses. Hillary Clinton got 68% and thumped Obama by 41 points in West Virginia. It looks like Obamamania is running out of steam. Back in December, when Obama was the 'flavor of the week', I asked people who were going crazy for him, including my mother, what he stood for. All I heard from her and others was about how handsome he was, and how great his speeches were. No Democrat in a hundred years has won the presidency without carrying West Virginia, and Obama show great weakness here. He is also going hammered in Kentucky next week as well, since it has similar demographics as WV. As he limps towards the finish line, he looks more and more like Mike Dukakis, another notorious loser of 20 years past. This was noted by no less a person the Susan Estrich, Mike Dukakis" campaign manager!

Fomer Pres. Jimmy Carter, on his recent 'peace mission' to kiss up to the terrorist Hamas organization, has made a complete fool of himself. A weak president while in office, and a weak character since, he somehow got it into his mind that he could actually get Hamas to do something constructive by sitting down and talking to these murderers. Well, he was rather disappointed. First, they made him look ridiculous when he said they had accepted Israel's existence. Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal quickly denounced that statement, saying he had agreed to 'ten-year truce' if Israel returned to pre-1967 borders. He later renounced even that. Carter also defied the US State Dept. to make his little trip to cozy up to terrorists. The Israeli ambassador to the US harshly criticized him as a 'bigot', and the father of a kidnapped Israeli soldier wasn't impressed either. Receiving a letter from his son, he condemned Carter as 'a postman for Hamas'. Sounds pretty much like a complete disaster to me.

Huckabee of Arkansas are stronger on moral issues, but go soft on law enforcement and illegal immigration. We would all sleep more soundly with Rudy Giuliani as president in these turbulent times.
